With the large-scale construction of urban sewage treatment plants in China, the sludge generated has become a new source of environmental pollution. These sludge have high moisture content and other issues, so deep dehydration of these sludge has become one of the key research topics. Research has found that after chemical modification of urban sludge, deep dehydration treatment using a filter press can form sludge filter cakes with low moisture content, achieving sludge reduction.

In response to the current situation of high moisture content in sludge cake filtered by traditional reinforced polypropylene plate filter presses, Sudong has developed a special filter press for deep sludge dewatering based on the characteristics of sludge. This series of filter presses uses imported polymer TPE elastomer formula to produce high-pressure diaphragm filter plates, with a pressing force of up to 3MPa. By secondary pressing the filtered cake, the moisture content of the cake can be reduced to around 55%. Under the premise of economy, safety, and environmental protection, centralized disposal and resource utilization of sludge have been achieved, achieving "reduction, harmless, stable, and resource utilization" of sludge.
The investment and operating costs of sludge treatment account for 25% -65% of the total investment and operating costs of the entire sewage treatment plant, which has become a heavy burden faced by urban sewage treatment plants. Generally, sludge reduction treatment accounts for about 60% of the total investment in sludge, and the most important aspect of sludge reduction is sludge dewatering. The current use of Sudong filter press is an economical and environmentally friendly dehydration method that is of great significance for sludge treatment and disposal.
